After being stranded in Barbados following their T20 World Cup victory, due to Hurricane Beryl, Team India finally arrived in New Delhi this morning to a warm reception. Hundreds of fans, holding placards to congratulate their favourite players and waving the national flag, braved a drizzle to gather outside the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

One fan, who had been waiting since 4:30 am, expressed, ‘We’ve been waiting for this moment for 13 years. The team has made us incredibly proud by winning the World Cup.

The team is scheduled to leave for Mumbai for a victory parade, giving fans an opportunity to see their heroes up close. The festivities will reach their peak with a grand ceremony at Wankhede Stadium later in the evening. India displayed a dominant performance in the finals against South Africa on June 29, marking an end to an 11-year wait for another World Cup title.
