Sunrises Hyderabad rewrite IPL record books with ruthless display

MUMBAI: In Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrises Hyderabad, has captured the attention of cricket fans more than any other team. Driven by the outstanding efforts of its main players, they have risen from the ashes of doubt to become strong competitors.

Many doubted Kavya Maran’s (Owner) business wisdom when she purchased the team during a downturn. However, few could have predicted that she would assemble one of the most formidable teams in IPL history. The play of the orange tigers on the field left everyone astonished.

Additionally, Sunrises Hyderabad shattered all records in IPL history by emerging as the most relentless team of all time.

The highest total before IPL 2024 was 263 by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013. Since then, only one side has scored more than 250 runs: the Lucknow Super giants did so last year against the Punjab Kings with a total of 257/5.
But the 260-run threshold has been crossed four times in the last month alone, with SRH setting the standard and expanding the range of what is possible for them as a batting team.

It all started when SRH crushed the record 277/3 against the Mumbai Indians in their match. A week later, Delhi Capitals were defeated 272/7 by Kolkata Knight Riders. Most recently, SRH recorded an incredible 287/3, surpassing their own IPL record. In response, Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a valiant 262/7 reply, displaying even more of Sunrises Hyderabad’s trademark fireworks in the batting department during IPL 24.

Standing tall as a formidable force for Hyderabad, Travis Head has amassed an incredible 533 runs in 11 games with his bat. With a strike rate of 201.89 that leaves opponents bowlers gasping for air, he is a consistent scorer who has given Hyderabad’s batting order stability with 61 fours and 31 sixes.

Abhishek Sharma, another revelation for Hyderabad, has made significant contributions with both bat and ball. His tally of 401 runs at an astounding strike rate of 205.64 underscores his prowess in accelerating when the situation demands. Furthermore, his valuable contributions with the ball, snatching 30 wickets at an economy rate of 35, have bolstered Hyderabad’s arsenal.

Heinrich Klaasen’s presence in the middle order has offered stability and impetus to Hyderabad’s innings. Despite featuring in only 11 matches, Klaasen has managed to amass 339 runs at a commendable strike rate of 186.26, showcasing his ability to anchor the innings when the team needed it the most.

Sunrises Hyderabad, with their aggressive approach, are providing a glimpse of what the standard strategy for teams batting first could evolve into in the future.
