KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a substantial reward of Rs 2 million for Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistani javelin thrower who secured the nation’s first individual Olympic gold medal in 40 years at the Paris Olympics.

Nadeem’s triumph has sparked a wave of national pride and celebration across Pakistan. His record-setting throw of 92.97 meters not only earned him the gold medal but also established a new Olympic record.

This victory makes Nadeem the first Pakistani to win an individual Olympic gold since 1984.

National leaders have responded with enthusiastic praise. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar congratulated Nadeem and announced that he will be honored as a national hero.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif plans to unveil a historic package in Nadeem’s honor, with a grand reception planned for his return.

President Asif Ali Zardari also commended Nadeem, calling him the pride of Pakistan and celebrating his record-breaking achievement.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi extended his congratulations, highlighting Nadeem’s dedication and hard work.

Additionally, Speaker of the Sindh National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori praised Nadeem’s outstanding accomplishment.

The Pakistan Army and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) have also celebrated Nadeem’s victory, describing it as a testament to Pakistani talent and determination. Nadeem’s gold medal is being recognized as a symbol of national pride and excellence, solidifying his status as a national hero.
