WEB DESK: Shaheen Shah Afridi has lost his top spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings. He dropped to No 2 as Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan overtook him.

Afridi was No 1 earlier this month after Pakistan’s ODI series against Australia. His absence from the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe caused him to lose 14 points.

Afridi had a career-best rating of 696 after taking eight wickets in the series against Australia. His best performance was in Perth, where he took 3 wickets for 32 runs, helping Pakistan win the series 2-1.

Rashid Khan secures top spot

Rashid Khan moved to No 1 after strong performances. He took five wickets against Bangladesh with an economy rate of 3.57. In the series against South Africa, Rashid took seven wickets, including a five-wicket haul.

Rashid has taken 195 wickets in 108 ODIs. He is just five wickets away from becoming the fourth-fastest bowler to 200 ODI wickets.

His great form also earned him a retention deal with the Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2025 season.

Other ranking changes

Haris Rauf of Pakistan dropped to No 15. Mohammed Shami of India and Gudakesh Motie of the West Indies both moved up one place.
