ISLAMABAD: The Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 concluded on Thursday (today) with Punjab finishing on top with a total of 173 medals in the weeklong games at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.

The colourful closing ceremony of inter-provincial games was held at Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad’s sports complex with Federal Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Nadeem Irshad Kayani participating as the Chief Guest.

During the ceremony, trophies and medals were distributed among the players along with musical performances in which renowned singer Sahir Ali Bagga and female Drum Beater Arishma Maryam enthralled the participants.

Punjab secured the top position with 78 gold, 53 silver, and 42 bronze medals, bringing the total tally to 173 medals.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained second with a remarkable haul of 98 medals, including 29 gold, 31 silver, and 38 bronze. Sindh claimed third place with 79 medals, including 16 golds, 28 silver and 35 bronze.

Balochistan remained in the fourth position with 62 medals, securing 14 gold, 16 silver, and 32 bronze medals. Islamabad’s player secured 5th position with 6 gold, 11 silver, and 39 bronze medals.

Gilgit Baltistan followed Islamabad on the points table and secured 6th position by winning 2 gold, 2 silver, and 18 bronze medals, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir bagged the last spot on the medal tally with only gold, 5 silver, and 20 bronze medals. 

According to the details, around 2,000 male and female athletes competed in a total of 15 disciplines for 516 medals. The featured games include Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Football, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Karate, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
