KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari will inaugurate the newly renovated National Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday evening.
The grand opening ceremony will feature fireworks, a light show, and free entry for the public with famous singers Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Zafar, and Sahir Ali Bagga set to perform.
The stadium’s reconstruction began on September 28, 2024, and finished on January 31. The pavilion has been completely rebuilt, and all seating is new.
The stadium now has advanced LED floodlights, modern score screens, and better sightlines. Barriers have been removed for an improved viewing experience. All hospitality boxes have been upgraded for greater comfort.
Naqvi praised the hard work of laborers and the contributions of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak), contractors, and the PCB team. He assured that the stadium now offers world-class facilities for both fans and players.
The inauguration will include performances by Pakistani musicians Ali Zafar and Shafqat Amanat Ali. This follows the recent reopening of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium after renovations.
