LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday clarified its position on the Champions Trophy 2025 venue issue to the International Cricket Council (ICC), saying that holding matches with India at a neutral venue under a hybrid model is not acceptable.
According to the sources PCB has emphasized that if a neutral venue is proposed for matches against India, then Pakistan will not play in India for future events. PCB has asked the ICC to resolve this matter before the board meeting.
Earlier PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during a late-night visit to Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, spoke to the media and said, “It’s unacceptable for us to play in India if they refuse to play in Pakistan. Any decision will be based on equality and in the best interest of Pakistan cricket.”
Naqvi remains optimistic about the upcoming ICC meeting and is hopeful that Pakistan will secure a favorable decision regarding the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9, 2025. However, India has refused to send its cricket team to Pakistan, creating uncertainty.
