WEBDESK: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has praised the quick upgrade of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, declaring it a world record for the fastest renovation in cricket.

The stadium, which is set to host the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy matches starting February 19, has undergone significant improvements in just 110 days.

PCB has also shared a video of Gaddafi Stadium on their social media with the caption “Unveiling the stunning new-look Gaddafi Stadium! Under the lights, it’s a sight to behold! We can’t wait to welcome fans, officials, and teams for the tri-nation series & Champions Trophy.”

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium to inspect the final touches, ensuring the high standards of the work being done. The stadium’s renovation includes new hospitality boxes and expanded seating, which will increase its capacity to 34,000—an additional 10,000 seats. The completion is set to be officially marked on February 7, with Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif scheduled to inaugurate the upgraded facility.

Naqvi commended the workers for their dedication and announced that they would be invited to attend the first match of the tri-nation ODI series on February 8.

Gaddafi Stadium is set to host four matches during the Champions Trophy, including the second semi-final on March 5. If India doesn’t qualify for the final, the match will be held in Lahore on March 9.

Additionally, the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy trophy, which has completed its world tour, will be displayed in major cities, including Lahore, until February 15.
