In a remarkable debut at the first International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO-2024) held in Clark, Philippines, the Pakistani team secured two silver and two bronze medals.
Suleman Nouman from Siddeeq Public School in Islamabad and Subhan Kashif from Lahore Grammar School both earned silver medals. Meanwhile, Ehban Awan from Karachi Grammar School and Qasim Salam from Siddeeq Public School Rawalpindi were awarded bronze medalsin the Nuclear Science Olympiad .
The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), the top engineering university under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), selected the students after rigorous testing and training. The team was mentored by Dr. Sajjad Tahir from PIEAS and Dr Muhammad Maqsood from the PAEC Education Directorate.

INSO-2024, which took place from August 1-6, 2024, was sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other global institutions.
The success of these students, along with their teachers, mentors, and supporting institutions, highlights Pakistan’s growing prominence in international science competitions.
This achievement adds to the country’s recent victories in International Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics Olympiads, marking a significant milestone in nuclear science.
