SYDNEY: Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to injury.
Australia is yet to announce his replacement.
As per details, Australia has suffered a massive blow after Marsh was ruled out of next month’s Champions Trophy due to lower back pain. The ICC Champions Trophy begins on February 19.
Marsh suffering from back pain needs more rest and rehab for complete recovery.
“Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s Champion’s Trophy with ongoing lower back pain and dysfunction,” Cricket Australia said via a statement.
Selectors have not yet picked his replacement. The one-day tournament starts on Feb. 19 in Pakistan and the UAE.
Marsh struggled with the bat in the home series against India. The selectors dropped him for the final test in Sydney against India.
Lahore to host ICC Champions Trophy opening ceremony
The grand opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy will be held in Lahore on February 16. Pakistan is hosting the ICC event after 28 years.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the renovated Gaddafi Stadium on February 7. He will also attend the ICC Champions Trophy opening ceremony, scheduled for the same day.
The renovated National Stadium Karachi will hold its ceremony on February 11. President Asif Zardari will attend the ceremony as chief guest.
Pakistan will play the opening match against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi.
