LONDON: Boxing legend Mike Tyson is facing a lawsuit in London over claims he broke a promotional deal with a UK gambling company to pursue a fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
Tyson deal-breaking cases huge loss
The promoter for online casino Rabona Medier accuses Tyson and his company Tyrannic LLC of reneging on a January contract.
The lawsuit, filed in October, alleges Mike Tyson terminated the deal unlawfully in March. This coincided with the annoucnement of a Netflix special promoting a potential fight with Jake Paul. Medier claims this led to losses of €1.5 million ($1.59 million).
“Tyson prioritised the Netflix-backed fight over his contractual obligations,” the company’s lawyer stated in court documents released Friday.

Tyson denies claims
Tyson’s representatives argue Medier breached the agreement first, allowing them to end the deal legally.
“Tyrannic acted within its rights to terminate the license agreement due to Medier’s material breaches, protecting the Tyson brand from further harm,” said a spokesperson for Tyson.
The legal battle highlights the growing tension between traditional sports promotions and influencer-driven events like Paul’s boxing career.
