Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), was elected unopposed as the new president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday.
He will assume his role as ICC chairman on December 1, following the end of Greg Barclay’s term in November.
Moreover, Shah was chosen after Greg Barclay decided not to seek a third term. In his acceptance speech, Shah expressed his dedication to expanding cricket’s global reach and popularity. He pointed out that cricket’s inclusion in the LA 2028 Olympics is a significant chance for the sport to grow internationally.
