WEBDESK: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy has been moved from Karachi to Lahore as part of its ongoing tour. Following its stay in Lahore, the trophy is scheduled to move to Afghanistan for the next phase of its journey.

According to sources, the schedule for the trophy events in Lahore is yet to be finalised. The trophy, now housed at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Headquarters, is set to be a centre of attention for cricket enthusiasts in the city.

Earlier, the ICC Champions Trophy was showcased at various iconic locations in Karachi over three days, marking the completion of its tour in the city. The trophy arrived in Karachi two days ahead of schedule on Wednesday, creating excitement among fans.

This international tour aims to generate enthusiasm for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy tournament, which will be hosted in Pakistan in 2025.

There may be further delays in announcing the schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to take place in Pakistan next February.

Media reports suggest that the scheduled announcement is unlikely within the next 24 hours. However, if stakeholders show flexibility, it could be revealed within a day or two.

Pressure is mounting on the ICC, and the matter may soon be put to a vote among board members. Pakistan has requested a written explanation from the ICC regarding India’s refusal.

The PCB has clarified that it is unwilling to accept a hybrid model, where matches against India are played at neutral venues. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pushing for the hybrid model and trying to rally other boards to support India’s participation, or potentially take over hosting the event.
