DUBAI: Former goalkeeper of Saudi football club Al-Nasr and fellow footballer of star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that Ronaldo wants to convert to Islam.
Speaking on an Arab TV show, former Saudi footballer Walid Abdullah revealed that Ronaldo is deeply interested in the teachings of Islam and wants to convert to Islam.
He said that Ronaldo had already expressed his interest in considering converting to Islam.
Saudi footballer Walid Abdullah said that Ronaldo always encourages players to pray and whenever the call to prayer sounds during training, Ronaldo would request the coach to stop the training.
He added that after scoring a goal for Al-Nasr in May 2023, Ronaldo also prostrated on the field, to which all the players chanted Allahu Akbar.
He said that whether Cristiano Ronaldo converts to Islam or not, his hard work, dedication and discipline have brought him to this success.
Earlier last month, Ronaldo had shared his retirement plan. He said that he also has no intention of starting to coach or manage a team after he hangs up his boots. “It’s not in my plans to become a team manager. I have other plans that do not involve football and only time will tell the rest,” he said.
Earlier in an August interview, Ronaldo disclosed that although he does not intend to retire soon, he does not plan to leave the Saudi club Al-Nassr when the contract expires at the end of this season.
