MONACO: Cristiano Ronaldo, the celebrated Portuguese footballer, was awarded a prestigious accolade at UEFA’s Champions League group phase draw in Monaco on Thursday night, recognising him as the all-time top scorer in the elite European competition.
Currently playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo’s legendary status in the Champions League remains unmatched. The forward has scored an impressive 140 goals in 183 appearances, a record that continues to set him apart from his peers.
Ronaldo’s goal-scoring feats include seven seasons as the Champions League’s leading scorer, surpassing Lionel Messi by 11 goals and leaving Robert Lewandowski 46 goals behind in the all-time rankings. Notably, he is the only player to have scored in three different Champions League finals and has lifted the trophy five times, solidifying his enduring legacy and setting a high bar for future footballers.
