WEB DESK: Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are set to face off in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final at England’s iconic Wembley Stadium on Saturday, June 1.
Real Madrid’s journey to the final was a formidable one. They overcame RB Leipzig in the round of 16, dispatched Manchester City in the quarter-finals, and triumphed over Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund navigated a challenging path by defeating PSV Eindhoven in the last 16, Atletico Madrid in the quarters, and Paris Saint-Germain in the semis.
Both teams had to dig deep to reach this stage, and they will need to give it their all once more to lift the coveted title.
Real Madrid have been in stellar form this season, losing only two matches, both against Atletico Madrid, and remaining unbeaten in the Champions League. Carlo Ancelotti’s squad cruised through the group stage with a perfect 18 points and has been in blazing form since.

Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, finished fifth in the Bundesliga with 63 points and were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal. The Champions League now represents their final chance to finish the season on a high note.
The last UCL final held at Wembley was in 2013, where Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund’s route to that final included a semi-final victory over Real Madrid, adding a layer of historical intrigue to this matchup.
Real Madrid will be vying for their record-extending 15th Champions League title, while Dortmund aim for only their second European crown.
Given Real Madrid’s impeccable record in UCL finals this century, having won all seven they’ve contested, the edge seems to be with Los Blancos. A 2-1 victory for Real Madrid is the likely outcome of this high-stakes encounter.
