An unhappy Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly going to take strict measures against its cricket team after their disastrous tour of Australia.
According to Indian media, the board is considering to limit families’ time of players.
Until now, the Indian players were allowed to bring their families, especially wives and kids, on tour for as long as they wanted.
However, now BCCI is considering to allow wives or girlfriends to travel with the players beyond 2 weeks on a tour that lasts over one and a half months.
Not just that, every player would be required to travel in the team bus with the other members of the squad. Lone travel will also be discouraged by the board. They have also been asked to pay for extra luggage.
Indian cricket team coach Gautam Gambhir can also face some restrictions. His personal manager may not be allowed to stay at the team hotel and could also be barred from sitting in the VIP box.
What made the BCCI do this?
The move comes after the Indian team lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3 in Australia. The team was not only hammered in the Test series, media reports coming out of Australia also suggested that the mood in the dressing room was off as well.
Rohit Sharma also dropped himself from the side in the final match of the series.
During their tour of Australia, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah travelled with their young families between cities, while the rest of the players traveled together.
