DUBAI: Bangladesh U-19 defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the first semi-final to reach the final of the U19-Asia Cup on Friday.

Bangladesh will face India in the final on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh’s skipper Azizul Hakim played the captain innings. He scored  61 runs off 42 balls and remained not out. Mohammad Shihab James played 26 runs innings. Bangladesh chased the lowest total in 22.1 overs.

Ali Raza, Abdul Subhan, and Naveed Ahmad Khan claimed one wicket each.

Putting into bat first, Pakistani openers failed to lay a foundation for the team. Both openers Usman Khan and Shahzaib Khan departed without scoring.

Mohammad Riazullah and captain Saad Baig attempted to resist with a 42-run partnership for the third wicket. However, the skipper’s dismissal for 18 off 41 triggered another slump.

A four-wicket haul from Iqbal Hossain Emon saw Bangladesh bowl out Pakistan for just 116 in 37 overs.

Maruf Mridha took two wicket hauls, dismissing both Pakistani openers early.

For Pakistan, Farhan Yousaf remained the top scorer. Coming at number 7, he played a resistant innings of 32 runs off 32 balls.

Earlier today, India defeated Sri Lanka in the second semi-final at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka batted first in the game and got bowled out for 173 runs in 46 overs. India chased the lowest total in 21.4 overs.

Pakistan was undefeated in the ACC U19 Asia Cup. In the first match, Pakistan crushed arch-rival India by 43 runs, and UAE by 69 runs in their second match. In the last group match, Pakistan crashed Japan by 180 runs.
