Ireland registered their first victory over Pakistan in more than 15 years by winning the opening T20 match by five wickets in Dublin on Friday. Despite this, Pakistan’s cricket team captain, Babar Azam, achieved a milestone.
Babar equalled the record of India’s Virat Kohli for scoring the most 50+ scores in T20Is.
During Friday’s match, the Pakistan batter played a 57-run knock, comprising eight boundaries and a six.
Azam, 29, has now scored 50+ runs 38 times in 108 innings, one less than the former Indian skipper. He has also scored three centuries in the process.
Babar Azam is also closing in on becoming the first Pakistan player to cross the 4000-run mark in T20Is. With a total of 3880 runs, he ranks third in the list of batsmen with the highest runs in T20I cricket, following behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
He was recently re-appointed as Pakistan’s white-ball captain and will lead the Green Shirts in the upcoming T20I World Cup.
