Arshad Nadeem, who earned Pakistan its first-ever gold medal in javelin at the Paris Olympics 2024, recently shared details about the prize money announced in his honor. In the men’s javelin final this August, Arshad made an impressive throw of 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record and securing Pakistan’s first gold medal in 40 years.
Following this historic achievement, both the federal and provincial governments, along with private institutions, announced substantial rewards for the athlete, collectively amounting to millions. However, questions about the actual receipt of these prizes lingered.

Arshad appeared on Geo News’ show Hansna Mana Hai, where host Tabish Hashmi and the audience had a few questions for the Olympic champion. One attendee asked Arshad, “Did you actually receive all the prize money that the government and private entities promised?”
Hashmi remarked, “The entire nation was keeping track of the amount, which I believe reached nearly 80 or 90 million rupees.” In response, Arshad laughed, confirming, “All the prize money from government bodies has been received, alhamdulillah. However, some private institutions still haven’t delivered their promised amounts, though a few have.”
Arshad’s coach, Salman Butt, added, “We’re grateful to the government for awarding the prize money on time.”
