The provincial government of Sindh has decide to conduct random drug tests on students at educational institutions across the province. This was announced by the Minister for Transport & Mass Transit, Excise & Taxation, Narcotics Control and Information, Sharjeel Memon.

During a media briefing at the Social & Electronic Media Directorate of the information department, the minister described drugs as a common problem around the globe. He added that the young generation is a valuable asset of every nation.

“We have to protect our young generation, and public and private educational institutions from the threat of drugs.”

Memon assured that if any student tests positive during the government’s random drug tests, their case will be treated with utmost confidentiality. He further stated that the provincial authorities will take strict action against those who supply drugs to the students.

According to Memon, the provincial government received special instructions from President Zardari to end the scourge of drugs. He announced strict action against drug peddlers with the assistance of the police, the Rangers, the E&T department and the Anti-Narcotics Force.
