An alarming rise in dog bite cases has been reported, with 7,957 incidents occurring in one week across Pakistan.

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), approximately one million people in Pakistan are bitten by stray dogs annually, resulting in an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 deaths from rabies.

Currently, Pakistan is facing a severe shortage of anti-rabies vaccines (ARV) due to pricing disputes.

Punjab has recorded the highest number of dog bite cases, with 5,259 incidents, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
