Prime Minister (PM), Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Friday returned to Islamabad from his two-day Qatar visit, where he met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
According to the press release issued by the PM’s office, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of investment and trade, along with cooperation in other fields. Both sides reviewed previous investment commitments and explored new opportunities across various sectors in Pakistan.
Additionally, the countries exchanged views on key regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The Emir of Qatar highlighted the importance of the brotherly relations between the two countries and expressed a shared commitment to strengthening economic partnerships, increasing trade exchanges, and promoting investment.
Qatar’s PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, also met with the PM. Both leaders discussed ways to further enhance bilateral relations and explored various proposals for cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
PM Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Qatar’s role in supporting Pakistan’s economic development and acknowledged the presence of a large Pakistani community in Qatar, which serves as a bridge between the two nations.
The Qatari PM highlighted Pakistan’s strategic importance in the region and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening economic relations to serve the shared interests of both countries.
Both parties discussed regional and international issues, stressing the importance of peaceful solutions and collaborative efforts to address current challenges.
Shehbaz Sharif also praised Qatar’s diplomatic efforts and humanitarian initiatives, particularly its role in mediating the Palestine issue, and expressed Pakistan’s support for Qatar’s commitment to promoting peace in the region.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of continuing high-level exchanges to further enhance mutual understanding and cooperation.
During the visit, PM Shehbaz Sharif and the Emir of Qatar toured the exhibition “Manzar: Art and Architecture in Pakistan from 1940 to the Present,” hosted by the Qatar Museums.
