Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan announced on Thursday that he plans to retire from international cricket by March next year.
Shakib is currently facing prosecution in Bangladesh due to his ties with the country’s former leader. He, along with numerous other members of ex-Premier Sheikh Hasina’s party, is charged with murder in connection to a deadly police crackdown on protesters.
The 37-year-old cricketer has not returned to Bangladesh since the recent student-led revolution that resulted in the ousting of Hasina’s government.
