Senior politician demands Mohsin Naqvi’s resignation

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader and former senator Hafiz Hamdullah has demanded the resignation of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi.

Responding to Naqvi’s statement following Pakistan’s defeat against India, Hafiz Hamdullah stated that the team picked by Chairman PCB has embarrassed the entire nation.

The JUI leader stated that Mohsin Naqvi should immediately resign. It is pertinent to mention that following the defeat against India, Naqvi had hinted at a ‘major surgery’ in the team.

Addressing a press conference in New York after the Green Shirts’ defeat, Mohsin Naqvi expressed disappointment, stating that the loss to India was disheartening on all fronts.

“It seemed that a minor surgery would suffice for the Pakistan cricket team, but after the extremely poor performance, it has become clear that the team needs major surgery,” the PCB chairman said.

Naqvi stated he was fully aware of the internal issues plaguing the team and the reasons behind their defeat. He added that Pakistani cricket is currently experiencing its lowest performance level and emphasized that their biggest challenge is to improve the team’s overall performance.
