The Senate of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution urging the government to officially recognize September 7th as a national holiday. This date marks the historic 1974 decision by the Parliament to declare Qadianis as a non-Muslim minority.
The resolution was moved by Senator Atta-ur-Rehman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) during the 342nd Senate session. He emphasized the importance of commemorating September 7 holiday, stating it was a significant victory for Muslims in Pakistan and around the world.

He added that the long-standing efforts of the Muslim community to protect the Finality of Prophethood (PBUH) had been successful.
Senator Rehman called for the government to celebrate the “Finality of Prophethood Day” on September 7th holiday each year to raise awareness among the younger generation. He also suggested that medals should be awarded to the parliamentarians who played a crucial role in the 1974 decision.
The Senate resolution stressed the need to remember this important moment in Pakistan’s history, and the session ended with unanimous approval of the resolution. The government is now expected to consider the recommendation for the September 7 holiday.
