Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan recently in an interview shared that he and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, faced serious threats when they decided to get married.
According to Saif, anonymous letters were sent to Kareena’s father, Randhir Kapoor, threatening harm to their family and even targeting the wedding venue. However, both Saif and Kareena remained determined and went through with their marriage plans, choosing not to let the threats impact their decision.
Saif said that these challenges reminded him of his parents’ experience. His father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and mother, Sharmila Tagore, also faced resistance when they had an interfaith marriage in the 1960s.
Saif further added, “Some people didn’t approve of our marriage and went as far as sending letters with threats to harm our family and bomb the venue.”
He said that threats are serious whlie carrying them out is a different matter. Their resilience paid off, and they’ve continued to be a much-loved couple in the industry, inspiring fans across generations.
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s journey to marriage in October 2012 began when they met on the set of Tashan in 2008, where their connection quickly blossomed into a deep and lasting bond. Today, they are happily raising two sons, Taimur and Jehangir, continuing their unique journey together.
The couple represents a modern love story, blending tradition with contemporary values in a way that honors Saif’s Nawabi heritage and Kareena’s celebrated Kapoor lineage. Their wedding was a simple yet elegant affair, reflecting the best of both families’ legacies.
