Islamabad witnessed a series of bank-related robberies in the past 24 hours, as armed assailants targeted cash vans and banks across the capital.
On Tuesday afternoon, robbers struck near a government bank on G-9 Peshawar Mor. As a security guard prepared to bring a cash bag inside, a motorcyclist opened fire, grabbed the bag, and fled the scene. Tragically, an employee of a nearby hotel, Mir Haider, lost his life in the crossfire, while two hotel workers and the security guard sustained injuries.

Later, in G-14, robbers stormed a private bank, wounding a security guard before escaping with cash. The guard was rushed to the hospital, where his condition remains critical.
On Monday, similar incidents occurred in G-15 and I-9 sectors. In G-15, four people were injured during an attempted robbery at a private bank, and in I-9, a cash van heist left a guard injured.
IG Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi, confirmed the recent surge in robberies and said that police teams have been mobilized. Counter-Terrorism Department and other security units are on high alert as authorities use digital surveillance to identify patterns and track down those responsible.
