LUCKNOW: In an unusual turn of events, an alleged robber who broke into a house with the intent to steal ended up falling asleep in an air-conditioned room. The incident came to light on Monday.
According to Indian media reports, the bizarre occurrence took place on Sunday in Lucknow’s Indira Nagar when a drunken thief entered an unoccupied house. The house, owned by Dr Sunil Pandey, was vacant as the doctor and his family were in Varanasi at the time.
The robber, identified as Kapil, found the air conditioner in the living room too tempting to resist. After ransacking the house and gathering valuables, he decided to take a nap in the cool comfort of the air-conditioned room.

Pandey’s neighbours became suspicious the following morning upon noticing the open door and the disarray inside the house. They promptly contacted the police, who arrived at the scene to find Kapil fast asleep, surrounded by the stolen items.
The local police reported that Kapil had attempted to steal various household items, including cash, a washbasin, a gas cylinder, and a water pump. However, his plan was foiled when he succumbed to the comfort of the air-conditioned room, using a cushion to sleep on the floor.
Kapil was arrested at the scene, bringing an unexpected end to his burglary attempt.
