Riyadh Police arrest three Pakistanis, an Afghan for 8.3mn Riyal copper cable theft

WEB DESK: In Riyadh, authorities detained a gang of four foreign nationals for stealing copper cables from government storage facilities, worth 8.3mn Riyal. Riyadh police disclosed that the culprits consisted of three individuals from Pakistan and one from Afghanistan.

Complaints from the public alerted law enforcement to the thefts, particularly concerning cables owned by the Saudi Electricity Company. Investigations revealed the thieves’ modus operandi: amassing the stolen goods in a large warehouse in Sulay, located in the eastern part of the city, where they were subsequently fragmented and sold in the local market at discounted rates.

Furthermore, upon raiding the warehouse, police apprehended the suspects, who admitted to their involvement in the string of robberies.

In addition, they confessed to evenly distributing the proceeds from selling the stolen wires. Authorities are now expanding their inquiries to ascertain if additional accomplices were part of the illicit scheme.

This incident mirrors a similar case from the previous year, where Riyadh police captured a trio of Pakistani nationals engaged in a comparable theft spree across the Riyadh region. These suspects also stockpiled their loot in a sizable warehouse, located in the Semesi area near the King Saud Hospital.
