Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that top-performing students will be rewarded with a trip to Dubai.

The announcement was made during the convocation at Punjab University, where the minister stated that this initiative is aimed at recognising students’ hard work and academic excellence.

Hayat said that the trip will be personally funded and will serve as a motivation for students to achieve higher academic results. He emphasized the importance of education in shaping the future and encouraged students to excel in their studies.

The minister further stressed the need for degree programs that meet the demands of the job market. He said that graduates should not need personal connections to secure jobs, but rather should be hired based on their skills and qualifications.

To meet this challenge, the education department plans to introduce specialised programs in high-demand fields like information technology.

Furthermore, Hayat criticised universities for focusing on minor issues, such as dress codes, instead of developing relevant academic programs. He urged institutions to prioritize innovation and student achievements.

The minister also revealed that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will distribute 40,000 laptops to students and launch scholarships for 30,000 students to enhance access to higher education.
