Punjab to introduce personalized vehicle number plates

The Punjab Excise Department has decided to introduce vanity number plates for citizens, allowing them to choose and display custom license plates on their vehicles. Under the new scheme, vehicle owners can select any name or number for their plates.

The scheme, designed for car enthusiasts in Punjab, will enable individuals to apply online for their preferred number plates. Once approved, the plates will be issued at a specified cost.

Not only individuals but also corporate entities can obtain multiple plates with the same serial number, should they choose to.

Additional Director General of Excise Punjab stated that companies interested in having a uniform serial number across their fleet can apply and pay accordingly to receive their desired plates.

The Excise Department has completed the necessary preparations for the vanity number plate scheme and has submitted a summary to the Punjab government. Implementation will commence following cabinet approval.
