Punjab Govt Plans Feeder Buses for Metrobus Routes

The provincial government of Punjab has decide to introduce feeder buses along the Metrobus service routes between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The decision was made in a meeting presided over by Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Bharat. The meeting reviewed the road network of the Rawalpindi district.

The meeting also decided to upgrade the road network and allocate one percent of the total expenditure of each development project towards plantation efforts. Malik Sohaib Bharat highlighted the pivotal role of transportation and road network in maintaining the economic system of a country.

Furthermore, the provincial minister stated that the government’s top priority was to complete major roads in the first phase and link roads in the second phase. He also directed the public representatives to complete the ongoing schemes in their constituencies.

The Rawalpindi Commissioner informed the minister that 314 schemes have been added to the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2023-24. It includes 227 ongoing and 87 new schemes. The meeting was also briefed that 30% of the work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road has been completed.
