The Punjab government on Wednesday imposed green lockdown in different areas if Lahore to fight air pollution and smog.

The green lockdown will be enforced in different areas of Lahore, including Davis Road, Kashmir Road, Abbott Road, and Shimla Pahari, and will remain in effect until November 4.

What does Green lockdown mean?

The areas in which in which green lockdown will be imposed all BBQ and outdoor food points will be closed at 8pm.

In addition, there will also be a total ban on running commercial generators in lockdown zones.

Construction activities and Qingqi rickshaws will be strictly prohibited and banned, respectively, in the areas under the green lockdown.

The AQI in Pakistan has been recorded at “hazardous” levels since mid-October, raising concerns for the health of citizens. The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, on Wednesday declared the smog situation in the province extremely dangerous and called for a session of the assembly to address the issue.
