On Saturday, the Punjab cabinet approved additional discounts on bikes registration fees for students.
The subsidy, requested by the Punjab Transport Department, will be provided by the provincial government for all types of bikes registered by students.
The Punjab government will also cover the Rs 1,500 bank processing fee per motorcycle, with students receiving refunds for this amount. Furthermore, the government will cover the costs for bike registration, number plates, and cards.

Students will only be responsible for paying bike installments, insurance, and uplift money. Following the Punjab cabinet’s approval, new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for bikes have been put into effect.
Earlier in July, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz started the distribution of bikes among students. She stated that the government is dedicated to offering extensive support to underprivileged students.
A total of 27,000 bikes are being allocated based on merit through e-balloting. The government will cover half of the down payment for these e-bikes and ensure that monthly installments do not exceed five thousand rupees.
Moreover, she announced that in Phase II, the number of e-bikes provided will be doubled.
