Punjab’s Minister for Transport, Bilal Akbar Khan, revealed that around 800,000 students have applied for the provincial government’s E-Bikes scheme.

The minister announced that in line with the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directive, E-Bikes will be provided to all eligible students.

During a press conference in Lahore, Bilal Akbar stated that various schemes have been initiated for the assistance of the poor people on the directives of CM Punjab.

The minister hoped that girls will be warmly welcomed when they ride bikes on the streets. He added that the advancement of women will also contribute to economic development in the country.

Furthermore, he stated that all stations in Lahore are undergoing upgrades. Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ruled that the Punjab government’s environmentally friendly electronic motorcycle scheme can only move forward if it secures an environmental No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

The court added that proceeding with the motorcycle scheme without obtaining an environmental NOC would be deemed a criminal offence.
