PTI to stage nationwide rallies on May 9 anniversary

WEB DESK: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to mark the anniversary of the May 9 mayhem with nationwide rallies, as reported by Dawn.

According to the media report, a circular signed by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, in accordance with instructions from founding PTI chairman Imran Khan, outlines the party’s intention to hold rallies at every provincial assembly constituency level across the country.

The reports indicate that the rallies will be led by elected representatives, ticket holders, and party office-bearers. Pakistan and PTI flags will adorn buildings on this occasion, with former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s photo prominently displayed on placards bearing the phrase “Qaidi Number 804.”

The events commemorate the arrest of Imran Khan on the premises of the Islamabad High Court on May 9 of the previous year, which triggered widespread protests. The ensuing riots resulted in damage to public and private property, including attacks on military installations.
