Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Sania Nishtar on Wednesday resigned from the senate.
According to sources the reason for her resignation was due to her new employment with an International organisation in Geneva.
Sania Nishtar is a physician, cardiologist, author and activist. Sania, this year was appointed as the CEO of Gavi the Vaccine Alliance in 2024. She also served as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety with the status of Federal Minister and Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Ehsaas Programme.
While being part of the Interim Federal Cabinet in 2013 she oversaw public health, education and science.
She was elected as a senator in 2021 Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
