By WEB DESK: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has reiterated his party’s call for a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9. Speaking after a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Gohar relayed that Imran Khan was satisfied with the Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding reserved seats and remains confident in the justice system.
Urgent Judicial Action Requested
During their discussion, Barrister Gohar highlighted former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s comments about the Form 47 issue and pushed for the judiciary to quickly handle petitions from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He also briefed Imran Khan about a productive meeting with US Ambassador Donald Blome, which Imran welcomed.
Call for Peaceful Protest
Gohar announced PTI’s plans for a peaceful protest on May 9 and urged all party ticket holders to join. He voiced concerns over the missing CCTV footage from the event and stressed the importance of a judicial commission to carry out a thorough investigation. He clarified that Imran Khan aims to maintain good relations with the United States.
Response to Military and Diplomatic Comments
Addressing statements by DG ISPR Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif, Gohar announced plans to consider these remarks before his upcoming press briefing. Sharif had confirmed that the events of May 9 were not orchestrated and highlighted the need for lawful accountability.

Regarding comments made by DG ISPR, Gohar stated that he would address them in his press briefing after careful consideration. Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif, DG ISPR, earlier stated that the events of May 9 were not orchestrated and stressed the need for accountability according to the law.
Furthermore, Sharif debunked false narratives surrounding the events and emphasised the transparency of the situation. He also addressed allegations of US interference, stating that discussions at the state level do not imply severing ties with significant nations like the United States.
Salman Akram Raja, PTI’s counsel, clarified that the US envoy engaged with the foreign ministry before meeting with PTI leadership, underscoring the discussion’s unrelatedness to the cypher issue.
