ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-Insaaf (PTI) is likely to call off the November 24 protest march in view of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision discussed between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar.

Mohsin Naqvi telephoned the PTI Chairman and informed him that the government was bound by the court’s ruling, which prohibits any form of procession, sit-in, or rally in the capital.

“We must adhere to the Islamabad High Court’s directive,” Naqvi said adding nobody to be allowed to stage sit-in or protest in Islamabad.

He also said that a high-level delegation from Belarus will visit Pakistan on the day PTI will hold a protest in the capital. Holding a protest during a delegation visit is not appropriate.

Barrister Gohar said he would discuss the issue with party leadership and would inform him of the final decision after consultation.

According to media reports, the PTI political committee last night had also deliberated on the issue of calling off the November 24 protest march in view of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision.

Some of the PTI leaders were a view that that dialogue with the government should be given a chance.

After telephonic conversation, Barrister Gohar will put recommendation of the Mohsin Naqvi before the party leadership and political committee to make a final decision.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration blocked all entry points to the federal capital and closed all kinds of transport ahead of Pakistan Tehreeek-e-Insaf’s planned protest match.

Containers were placed at 33 different points, including on Rawat T-Chowk, IJP Road, carriage factory, Mandra, and Taxila to block access to the capital.

Lahore authorities have imposed a near-total lockdown ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) planned protest, with major roads and motorways blocked across the city.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has strongly criticised the federal government for closure of motorways, highways, and public spaces ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) November 24 protest, calling it a sign of panic and insecurity of the government.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif termed the sealing off Islamabad a success of the PTI protest.
