ISLAMABAD: Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has canceled its Peshawar rally scheduled for Friday.
PTI had announced to start a fresh phase of protest demonstrations across the country starting from Peshawar.

Local media, citing PTI sources, reports say that party cancelled rallies due to fear of low turnout.
This cancellation comes at a time when there is increasing pressure within the party for protests demanding the release of Imran Khan.
Confirming the development, PTI leader Arbab Asim said that a tent village will be set up in Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which workers from all over the country will participate.
Arbab Asim said that the final date of the tent village has not been decided yet.
PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Sher Afzal Marwat had exchanged indirect harsh arguments regarding the party protest strategy.
Salman Akram Raja, who is the secretary general of the party, said that he would only call for a protest when he is assured of a massive turnout.
Sher Afzal Marwart had criticised Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur for leaving the workers D-Chowk during a party protest for Imran Khan’s release.
Marwat said that establishment would be forced to engage in negotiations with PTI if they could gather 300,000 people.
