The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning about counterfeit mobile phones, urging buyers to exercise caution when purchasing new devices.

Moreover, to avoid fraud, PTA advises consumers to buy phones only from reputable sellers and ensure the device comes with a warranty.

In addition, key recommendations include checking for the PTA stamp on the phone’s box, matching the IMEI number on the box with the number in the phone’s settings, and purchasing phones in their original packaging.

To verify a phone’s authenticity, users can:
– Visit the PTA website: [dirbs.pta.gov.pk](http://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/)
– Text the IMEI number to 8484
– Use the PTA DVS app for verification

Furthermore, PTA also warns against buying phones at unusually low prices and from vendors who do not offer a warranty. If scammed, consumers should contact the seller immediately and report the issue to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
