RAWALPINDI: The highly anticipated President’s Cup cricket tournament will kick off on April 24 and run through May 12. Abbottabad and Rawalpindi are set to host the event, featuring 24 exciting matches across both cities.
Teams and Expectations
Seven prestigious departments from across Pakistan will compete in this 50-over-a-side contest. Fresh from their victory in the four-day first-class President’s Trophy, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is aiming for another championship to cap off the 2023-24 season.
Competing Teams
Challenging SNGPL will be strong teams such as Pakistan Television (PTV), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), Higher Education Commission (HEC), and Ghani Glass.
Match Format and Venues
The teams will play in a single round-robin format, with each team facing the others once. After 21 league matches, the top four teams will enter the semi-finals. The league matches will occur at Shoaib Akhtar Stadium, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. The venues for the knockout matches will be announced later.
