PESHAWAR: Conflict has arisen within the ranks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Peshawar District that forced two prominent leaders to resign from their respective positions.
Malik Aslam Senior Vice-President of Peshawar City and General Secretary Taqdir Ali have resigned ahead of the planned November 24 protest of the PTI.
The latter announced her resignation in a video message, whereas the former sent a handwritten resignation to the party bosses.
As per media reports, there may be more resignations of the district office-bearers in the near future due to the fact that the unrest has been caused by the tussle over the distribution of party offices.
Consequently, PTI leadership has also been on the ground making attempts to address the aggrieved members by persuading them to rescind their decisions.
PTI Peshawar Region President Arbab Asim played down the concern, describing the disagreements as trivial and asserting that these would be addressed peacefully.
This is especially significant for the party, since PTI’s founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan has made a “decisive” call for a protest fixed on November 24.
