ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a request for authorisation to organise a public gathering at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi on April 19.

According to media reports, PTI North Punjab President Seemabia Tahir Satti addressed a letter to the deputy commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi, urging permission for the rally.

In her correspondence, Seemabia Tahir Satti highlighted her standing as an esteemed citizen of Pakistan, stressing her advocacy for the rule of law and the constitution’s supremacy. She asserted her position as PTI North Punjab president, citing her significant vote count of over 100,000 in the recent general elections held on February 8.

The reports said that Satti also highlighted PTI’s status as the country’s leading political party, underscoring its entitlement, like other parties, to conduct rallies and public gatherings within legal bounds.

The Islamabad High Court has already ruled in favor of PTI’s right to organise rallies in Islamabad, overturning authorities’ prior refusal based on security concerns.
