Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially issued a notification expelling the maverick leader Sher Afzal Marwat from the party on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, media reports claimed that Sher Afzal Marwat was kicked out of the party on Imran Khan’s instructions.

However, Chairman PTI denied any knowledge of any such development. Talking to media in the parliament, Barrister Gohar stated: “Right now, I am in parliament and I have received no such instructions to kick him out of the party yet. However, in any case this is an internal matter of the party.”

He further added, “If any instruction comes directly from Khan, it is my job to execute that command as soon as possible. There is a procedure that has to be followed but as we speak, I have received no such instructions.”

It merits a mention that Marwat was issued a show-cause notice on January 13 after he criticised party’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja on media.

Troubles for Marwat only grew when he was not allowed to visit the founder PTI Imran Khan in Adiala Jail on January 23.

Officials cited explicit instructions from the PTI founder, who clarified that Marwat was not his legal counsel and should not be granted access.

However, Marwat denied the news, stating: “As a protest, I am boycotting national media for 15 days as a protest against Imran Khan’s news about me. Social media also ran this news. There are hundreds of news channels but nobody bothered to ask my perspective, I was not contacted.”

Furthermore, media reports claimed that Marwat interrupted Salman Akram Raja’s speech at the recent Swabi Jalsa which drew the ire of party leaders.

PTI’s leadership has gone under a significant change today as Barrister Said was also removed as the General Secretary for Information of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This change was undertaken under the newly appointed PTI KP President Junaid Akbar.
