ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could soon face a ban, as authorities vow strict action against those involved in the party protest in Islamabad.
Speaking on ARY News’ program Khabar, Vawda said that orchestrating the events of May 9 was akin to a task for “vultures.”
He further criticised the party’s leadership, suggesting that if PTI had agreed to hold a peaceful rally in Sangjani, it would have preserved its dignity. Vawda claimed that Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, was the source of significant internal strife.
According to Vawda, Bushra Bibi’s actions had caused trouble for the party. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will not be arrested. However, Bushra Bibi’s detention seemed imminent.
The senator’s remarks come in the wake of a dramatic retreat by PTI protesters after a massive security operation led to the flight of Bushra Bibi and Gandapur from D-Chowk.
Vawda also said that Imran Khan’s life is at risk from those close to him.
In his critique of PTI’s current state, Vawda noted the party’s fragmentation, claiming it now consisted of “non-political wives, sisters, lawyers, old members, and new factions.”
Talking about the internal rift in PTI, he said that while Imran Khan remains incarcerated, many within PTI are pursuing their interests instead of focusing on the party’s future.
