Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the attack on Rangers and police officers on Srinagar Highway by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors who are now moving towards Red Zone in Islamabad.

Earlier, it was reported that some miscreants ran their vehicle over the Rangers personnel, leaving four personnel martyred and two police officers sustained injuries.

PM Shehbaz directed authorities to identify those involved and ensure they face strict punishment.

Along with this, he expressed deep sorrow in this regard and offered prayers for the departed souls and patience for their families.

The prime minister paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyred Rangers and police officers. He also instructed the provision of the best medical care for injured security personnel.

“This is not peaceful protest—it is extremism. Pakistan cannot afford bloodshed or chaos for political motives,” the PM stated.

PTI vs Police in Islamabad

The situation in Islamabad is tense as Bushra Bibi leads protestors toward the Red Zone despite government warnings.

The federal government has deployed the army to manage the situation and has threatened to impose a curfew if the protestors persist in entering the city.

The timing is particularly sensitive, as Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is currently visiting Islamabad.

The government has used shipping containers to block major roads and streets in Islamabad, most of them patrolled by large contingents of police and paramilitary personnel in riot gear.

Over 100 police personnel have sustained injuries, many of whom are in critical condition, underscoring the gravity of the ongoing violence.

According to reports, one civilian also lost his life in the protest.
