PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Monday decided to take legal action against the individual who waved the American flag during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Swabi.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, the KP government’s Information Advisor, condemned the incident in an interview with Geo News.
He said that PTI, which governs the province, was “angry” about the flag being displayed at the rally.
Barrister Saif further stated that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur had also expressed his displeasure over the matter and vowed that the party would take action against the worker responsible for waving the flag.
Ali Amin Gandapur is also the president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party.
The incident occurred on Saturday last during the PTI rally in Swabi, sparking controversy.
As the US flag was waved, nearby supporters quickly urged the worker to lower it, with some attempting to forcibly remove it. The scuffle eventually led to the flag being taken down.
A video of the incident went viral on social media.
