ISLAMABAD: Jailed former premier and founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has expressed his desire to meet with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
Speaking in the ARY news programme “Sawal Yeh Hai”, PTI leader Raoof Hasan revealed that a message from Imran Khan would soon be conveyed to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Setting on opposition benches in the National Assembly, PTI is making efforts to establish a joint platform with the religious-political party.
Raoof Hasan also mentioned that there are individuals within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) who are not in favor of negotiations. He emphasized that any dialogue should be with those who hold authority.
Raoof Hasan said that some Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members resist negotiations between PTI and the government.
He emphasised that meaningful dialogue should be with those who have actual decision-making authority.
The PTI spokesperson reiterated that the party’s demands include the release of political prisoners and the formation of a judicial commission saying that he is hopeful the opposition parties will come together.
Reacting to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maunala Fazlur Reham’s meeting, the PTI leader voiced concerns about the government’s intentions regarding Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He said that while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously assured Fazlur Rehman, doubts persist about the government’s follow-through.
Earlier, Maulana Fazlur Rehman denied knowing anything about the release of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Earlier, Fazlur Rehman denied any knowledge of negotiations concerning the release of Imran Khan. Speaking to the media, the JUI-F chief dismissed speculation about political deals, stating, “The release of the PTI founder seems unlikely at the moment.”
“I am not aware of any deal with the founder of PTI; I cannot comment on hearsay,” says Fazlur Rehman.
